Summary

Now available in trade paper! Are you settling for half the story? Highlighting connections that have been hidden from non-Jewish eyes, Rabbi Jason Sobel will connect the dots between the Old and New Testament, helping you see the Bible with clarity as God intended。

Most people—even people of faith—do not understand how the Bible fits together。 Too many Christians accept half an inheritance, content to embrace merely the New Testament, while Jewish people may often experience the same by embracing only the Old Testament。 But God has an intricate plan and purpose for both the Old and the New。

In Mysteries of the Messiah, Rabbi Jason Sobel reveals the many connections in Scripture hidden in plain sight。 Known for his emphatic declaration “but there’s more!” he guides us in seeing the passion and purpose of the Messiah。 Mysteries of the Messiah

uncovers connections between the Old and New Testaments,
connects the dots for readers with details about Jesus, the Torah, and biblical characters, and
is written with the unique perspective of a rabbi with an evangelical theological degree。
No matter how many times you have read the Bible, Mysteries of the Messiah will bring fresh perspective and insight。 God’s Word, written by many people over thousands of years, is not a random selection of people and stories。 Rabbi Jason Sobel connects the dots and helps us see with clarity what God intended。

Great book to readThis book gives you an idea of how Jewish minds see the Messiah and the Scriptures。 It's so refreshing to see the pictures and shadows of Messiah in the Old Testament。 The only thing that I didn't like and agree was that the author gave the Jewish traditions the same historical veracity that the Bible has; the author based many of his arguments to defend the messiahship of Jesus on many of these ancient rabbinical traditions, which may have historical importance on how ancient Great book to readThis book gives you an idea of how Jewish minds see the Messiah and the Scriptures。 It's so refreshing to see the pictures and shadows of Messiah in the Old Testament。 The only thing that I didn't like and agree was that the author gave the Jewish traditions the same historical veracity that the Bible has; the author based many of his arguments to defend the messiahship of Jesus on many of these ancient rabbinical traditions, which may have historical importance on how ancient Jewish people interpreted the Scriptures, but cannot be equated with the same divine inspiration that the Bible possesses, which makes it infallible。 But overall, it's a great book。 I'm happy that the author is concise evidence that the Lord has not abandoned his chosen people, that there's still a remnant of Jewish people who trust in Yeshua as Messiah。 。。。more

DisappointingI looked forward to reading this book because so many people said it was great。 I picked it up with high expectations。 However, I was very disappointed。 The author has many theories based on numbers, but his theories are not based on standard biblical numerology。 His numbers seem to be forced。 Honestly, I didn't learn much。 I suggest you skip Mysteries of the Messiah and read a much better book on biblical mysteries: The Book of Mysteries by Jonathan Cahn。 DisappointingI looked forward to reading this book because so many people said it was great。 I picked it up with high expectations。 However, I was very disappointed。 The author has many theories based on numbers, but his theories are not based on standard biblical numerology。 His numbers seem to be forced。 Honestly, I didn't learn much。 I suggest you skip Mysteries of the Messiah and read a much better book on biblical mysteries: The Book of Mysteries by Jonathan Cahn。 。。。more

This book is a fascinating examination of Christianity from the perspective of a Messianic Jewish Rabbi。 Rabbi Sobel brings vast knowledge of the Old Testament to the New Testament and rounds out the reader's understanding of the intricate connections between it all。 This book would be especially helpful to Jews who are leaning into their faith and wondering how Christ completes the picture。 Rabbi Sobel explores the Hebraic symbology of numbers which, at times, made my head spin。 I'm not a numbe This book is a fascinating examination of Christianity from the perspective of a Messianic Jewish Rabbi。 Rabbi Sobel brings vast knowledge of the Old Testament to the New Testament and rounds out the reader's understanding of the intricate connections between it all。 This book would be especially helpful to Jews who are leaning into their faith and wondering how Christ completes the picture。 Rabbi Sobel explores the Hebraic symbology of numbers which, at times, made my head spin。 I'm not a numbers person, but this would be helpful to a reader who is, or anyone looking for science behind the Word。 Great resource for any serious believer's library--or for anyone questioning the meaning of life。 。。。more

Quite good。 Much of this was understanding the numerical equivalents of various Hebrew words which was a bit over my head。 But if you stick with it, you'll be rewarded。 Well-worth the time and effort。 Quite good。 Much of this was understanding the numerical equivalents of various Hebrew words which was a bit over my head。 But if you stick with it, you'll be rewarded。 Well-worth the time and effort。 。。。more

I enjoyed this book。 It is very deep and took me a bit to get through it but I learned so much。 All the connections that are made and the different words with the same numeric values are truly amazing!

This was a really interesting book! It was really helpful in that it opened my eyes to some of the Jewish understanding of what happened and what it meant in the Old Testament。 That is a perspective that I am always searching for in my study of Old Testament books and subjects。 The part that really troubled me, was the emphasis on the words and their numeric values。 I don't believe that much is left to chance or coincidence in Scripture, but I was not convinced on the numerology that Rabbi Sobel This was a really interesting book! Definitely an interesting read, although all the numerical connections got to be overwhelming。 With no previous grounding in that concept, it was difficult to grasp and appreciate everything related to the numbers which is a key aspect of the book。 But there were some lovely and compelling connections between the OT and Jesus that make this a worthwhile read if you are interested in that sort of thing。

I’ve been a student of Judaism for 40 years。 I’ve been a Christian for 48 years。 This book is half good and half。。。not。 So。 Much。 Gematria。 Gematria is an esoteric branch of Judaica and is seen from time to time in scripture。 But it is by no means as pervasive as this *Messianic* Rabbi teaches。 His use of Gematria for every little thing (along with his absolutist “trust me, I’m a Rabbi” stance) is less theology and more horoscope。

Though this is an interesting book, it didn't resonate with me as much as I had hoped。 I think Jewish readers who are curious about Christianity would enjoy it more。 I thought the chapters were long and it was hard to keep focused on the content。 Not my favorite book, but it does have good content for the right person。I received a preview copy from the publisher。 Though this is an interesting book, it didn't resonate with me as much as I had hoped。 I think Jewish readers who are curious about Christianity would enjoy it more。 I thought the chapters were long and it was hard to keep focused on the content。 Not my favorite book, but it does have good content for the right person。I received a preview copy from the publisher。 。。。more

An excellent read which helped with my Bible in a Year study with Father Mike Schmitz。 It was wonderful to make a true connection with Jesus through the eyes of an actual Rabi who understands what it means to be Jewish and know what Jesus was actually doing based on an understanding of Hebrew Law and Tradition。

I have heard for years how the Bible in the earlier Testament (BC) references the Messiah who will be coming。 This book puts together much of this evidence into a coherent case。 Interesting read and a book to save to refer to in the future。

I really enjoyed this book。 I don't understand all the numbers stuff but the information Rabbi Jason gives of finding the Messiah in the Old Testament was great。 How Jesus fulfilled every prophecy, Jesus in the Passover everything was great! Jews。。。Listen Up This book has a ton of references that is a part of growing up in a Jewish household but which might be confusing to a Gentile。 Let the Holy Spirit lead you you both and it will be a Devine blessing。

Shows you the symmetry between old and new testaments。Good book, explained a lot of things in the Bible that now make sense in light of Jewish tradition。 Pick it up and learn something。

This was an interesting book that brought out a lot of Jewish history and tradition to show connections between the Old and New Testaments of the Bible or what's also known as the Jewish Bible with the Christian New Testament。 He pointed out where events happened on feast days in the New Testament and what the feasts meant and how they connected。 He also talked a lot about numerology and how letters and words have numbers in the Hebrew alphabet and how words and phrases connect to each other bas This was an interesting book that brought out a lot of Jewish history and tradition to show connections between the Old and New Testaments of the Bible or what's also known as the Jewish Bible with the Christian New Testament。 He pointed out where events happened on feast days in the New Testament and what the feasts meant and how they connected。 He also talked a lot about numerology and how letters and words have numbers in the Hebrew alphabet and how words and phrases connect to each other based on the same numbers that add up, which I hadn't really heard about before and sometimes it made sense to me and sometimes it felt like a bit of a stretch。 Mostly he was pointing out how the Jewish Bible points to Jesus as the Messiah in many different verses, either with certain words they use, the foreshadowing they do that parallels events in the Old and New Testaments or numerology that connects words and phrases to each other。 Overall, I found it very interesting and I learned more about the Jewish roots to my faith。 I recommend it!I received this book free from Read with Audra and Thomas Nelson。 I was not compensated for this review。 All opinions are my own。 。。。more

I received this book in exchange for an honest review。 Mysteries of the Messiah is a very intriguing book。 I'm not sure what I thought I was going to read, but this book is in-depth and intense。 I found myself wondering if I am even smart enough to read and understand it。 Fortunately, Rabbi Sobel is excellent at explaining。 My conclusion is that this is a book that needs to be read with attention and perhaps reread。 I know I plan to read it again。 Rabbi Jason Sobel quickly gained my attention i I received this book in exchange for an honest review。 Mysteries of the Messiah is a very intriguing book。 I'm not sure what I thought I was going to read, but this book is in-depth and intense。 I found myself wondering if I am even smart enough to read and understand it。 Fortunately, Rabbi Sobel is excellent at explaining。 My conclusion is that this is a book that needs to be read with attention and perhaps reread。 I know I plan to read it again。 Rabbi Jason Sobel quickly gained my attention in his opening paragraphs of "The Adventure Begins"。 Here's a quote to give you a taste。"The Bible is one of my favorite mystery books。 From the opening words of Genesis to the final chapter of Revelation, God's Word is filled with tantalizing clutes, fascinating revelations, and an extraordinary plot。 Many of the Bible's mysteries have nagged at our imaginations for centuries。 There are odd characters, dysfunctional families, bloody battles, and curageious heroes yet incredible wisdom within the writings。" Page ix Rabbi Sobel then begins to connect the Old Testament to the New Testament with a desire to cause the reader to "experience an unraveling revelation that will cause your heart to burn with increased hope and blessing。" It all points to Yeshua the Messiah。 Jesus the Christ。 I had no idea that each letter of the Hebrew Bible has a corresponding number。 Studying the numbers can help us understand deeper meanings behind the words and other words that have the corresponding number。 This is a book that I intend to read again more slowly and with focused attention。 I think there is much in it that I didn't get in the first reading。 I highly recommend this book。 。。。more

I thought this was an interesting book。 It was interesting to learn more about Hebrew/Jewish traditions and then make connections between the Old and New Testaments。 It was also interesting to learn what a man raised as a Jew but who later found Christ believed。 It was interesting to see the connections he made and how things flowed together。 I also thought he had a good writing style so we felt like we were going on a journey with him。 He had some interesting points that I hadn’t thought of bef I thought this was an interesting book。 It was interesting to learn more about Hebrew/Jewish traditions and then make connections between the Old and New Testaments。 It was also interesting to learn what a man raised as a Jew but who later found Christ believed。 It was interesting to see the connections he made and how things flowed together。 I also thought he had a good writing style so we felt like we were going on a journey with him。 He had some interesting points that I hadn’t thought of before。 。。。more

Mysteries of the Messiah: Unveiling Divine Connections from Genesis to Today by Rabbi Jason Sobel is an in-depth study on the Old vs New Testament and what connects them, which helps both Jew and Christian to recognize the importance and significance of those connections。 I struggled when he covered letters represented in numbers as a part of that connection。 This wasn’t like numerology, but rather something more specific to the Hebrew language。 And because of that, I felt a bit lost initially。 Mysteries of the Messiah: Unveiling Divine Connections from Genesis to Today by Rabbi Jason Sobel is an in-depth study on the Old vs New Testament and what connects them, which helps both Jew and Christian to recognize the importance and significance of those connections。 I struggled when he covered letters represented in numbers as a part of that connection。 This wasn’t like numerology, but rather something more specific to the Hebrew language。 And because of that, I felt a bit lost initially。 However, the author does his best to explain the Hebrew words, meanings, numbers and idea behind them。 The comparison of things like the tree in the Garden of Eden and the Cross, he has some interesting ideas to think about and further explore。 This is definitely a book where I’ll have to re-read sections to get a better understand of the author’s examples。 The entire book offers multiple examples of events and people from the Old Testament and how they connect to the Messiah of the New Testament。 For those that have the time and love doing the research, you'll enjoy digging deep with this book。 I received a copy from the publisher。 However, the opinions in this review are my own。 。。。more

I don't think I've read any book before that helped me understand the connections in the Old Testament to the Coming Messiah and how it all fits together。 Many of these things can only be explained by a Jewish Rabbi。 I'm so glad I was given the opportunity to do a Bible Study on this book。 If I could I'd rate this 10 stars! I have been reading Mysteries of the Messiah* this month and have learned a lot。 This book dives deep into the old Hebrew words, what certain letters are tied to and the numbers in these words, so it has a very intellectual feel to it yet still reads quite easy。 This is a good read for anyone curious about Jesus, especially in relation to the messianic prophecies。 * I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review。

We often forget that Christianity is based in, and on, the Jewish faith。 Sobel does a great job in showing where this Jewish foundation is, in the Old Testament, and how it;s numerology can also be found in our bible。 Often we see the Old Testament and dividing from Jewish prophecies by the time the New Testament comes around, but Sobbel shows where that is wrong thinking。 In fact, the prophesies are there, and very strongly too! I found myself thinking that this book is like studying genealogy- if you dont understand the roots you come from, you can't understand how far your family has come。 This book opens up the roots of our Christian faith in a way we haven't seen before, and let's our faith grow by leps and bounds after finishing it!While I had an ebook version, I would greatly recommend getting a paper version, to allow for note taking/highlighting, because trust me, you will want to earmark pages to share with friends and your pastor! In fact, I recommend giving a copy to your pastor, as it would be a great bible study class book! In fact, it may become your top Christmas gift to give this year! 。。。more
